Opportunities : Chapter Adviser & Educational Leadership Consultant

Chapter Adviser

Facilitator, provider of continuity, visionary, leader, advocate, an Alpha Gamma Rho Chapter Adviser is all of these and more. The basic function of the Chapter Adviser is to provide guidance and mentor individual members and chapters toward success while staying in contact with the Chapter's associates (alumni groups, Home Office staff, Housemother/House Directors, and school administrators.) The National Fraternity encourages Chapter Advisers to attend events including Adviser Forum, Leadership Seminars, National Convention, and Top Leaders Institute. 

Educational Leadership Consultant

Alpha Gamma Rho seeks candidates for Educational Leadership Consultants on the Home Office Staff. This full-time position allows the staff member experience traveling, exposure across the country to agriculture, AGR Chapters and alumni further cultivating relationships for professional opportunities. Student Story - Basic Needs Center


Students at the Basic Needs Center (BNC) understand the challenge of living on a tight budget, but through collaboration and community, they support one another.

The center offers food assistance, free laundry services, emergency housing support, laptop loans and textbook lending each term. 

The BNC operates on a peer to peer model, and its student staff take the lead. In this video, Elliana shares the story of working in service to her fellow Beavers.

Alumni Recruitment Mentor

The Alumni Recruitment Mentor serves as a guide and supports the Vice Noble Ruler-Membership Recruitment resulting in an effective recruitment program for the chapter. Through ongoing advice and counsel, the partnership creates an organized and sustained emphasis on effective recruitment including training, communications, and securing alumni recruitment involvement and support. Housing Resources Trust

Alpha Gamma Rho's Housing Resources Trust (HRT) exists to help each chapter maintain housing that is appropriate for its unique circumstances. A Board of Trustees manages its funds and works to ensure every Alpha Gamma Rho chapter facility is a home away from home for collegiate members.

Chapter House Improvement Grants

Designed to help provide a modern living-learning environment for collegiate members, the Chapter House Improvement Grant program awards grants to alumni groups planning to perform chapter facility improvement projects. Interested alumni groups should collaborate with collegiate brothers and chapter leadership teams to perform the following:

  • Identify a specific chapter facility improvement project
  • Prepare a detailed proposal to include with the application below
  • Upon completion, submit a final report that details the project's execution and if it achieved the desired outcome

The HRT Board of Trustees reviews Chapter House Improvement Grant applications on an ongoing basis. Not all projects will receive funding at the requested amount.

2025 Distinguished Professor Melissa Cheyney


Dr. Cheyney is a professor of clinical medical anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts and an international leader in maternal healthcare and midwifery research. Her extraordinarily active public engagement is influencing the reform of maternal care in Oregon and the nation, resulting in improved birth outcomes, especially among underserved populations.

The Educational Foundation supports reoccurring Adviser Forums for Chapter Advisers and alumni volunteers to discuss important chapter issues in an open dialogue.
