Some of the most spectacular scenery in America is found in Oregon. Many many coastal cliffs and bluff, colorful towns steeped in history, waterfalls by the hundreds are located in the Pacific North West. From the iconic stacks that line the craggy coastline in this majestic state to some of the hidden waterfalls easily accessible by stunning hikes. Oregonians are very protective of their natural surrounding and these marvels emerge at every turn. Astoria, founded in 1811 is the oldest city in the state of Oregon and was the first American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains., stand sentinel over the mouth of the mighty Columbia River and the Pacific ocean creating one of the world's most deadly waterways and graveyard to many vessels. The Pacific North West is shrouded in rain, fog and mist for many many months of the year reveals its magic and majesty in the drier parts of the year. This landscape is both majestic and deadly.
